Default AIR FILTERS

are you guys mostly using the oem air filters? is there really any difference between the factory air filter and an aftermarket one?

also, are the air filters under the hood the same for all s2000s (00 through 2008 including the CR)????

would like to replace mine at the right time so....

Yes, K&N and AFE to name a few, make drop in OEM replacement filters for the S2k. Theres not much, on no gain in performance until you go with a CAI. And then its mostly noise with a little more snap IMO. But they do last a long time.

Yes, K&N posts dyno charts of nine more HP with some of there FIPK intakes. Most of these air fliters flow more air at the expense of better filtration, and any particals that do get thru are too small to cause engine damage they say. However there are many users that have used them for years and report no problems. All I know is that my comptec ice box with a AFE filter, gave me a little more snap and reponse. But its not worth $350 for a new one, I bought a used one.

I use K&N and was told by another S2000 driver that they could feel the difference. The Invidia I don't think hurts either though so not really sure but I have read the same article about 9.5 increased hsp.
