Alcohol rubbing interior parts...help?

This has been done quite a few times. I even tried it on my old center console. It looks nice but be warned......the rubbing alchohol is stripping the top layer off which keeps fingerprints from showing up. I remember having to buff that thing out with a towel all the time.

Later I traded consoles out (gladly) for one with a leather shift boot.

So it looks good but is more difficult to maintain.

what did you use to put the alchol on. did you use a towel or paper towel?? i'm deff going to do this seeing my center console is pretty worn from the 2 previous owners

thats a good idea... to paint some interior parts with the cars exterior color.... what pieces do u think would look good?

Be carefull what you rub with that thing,or you could end up with a chrome ...k.
