almost killed: my car and maybe me (long)
IMHO it is fairly stupid to drive a RW car in the cold season with any kind of summer tires. You CAN drive the S with good winter tires on snow, but even then you should be careful with throttle.

I drove my S through Mid-Maryland's horrible Winter last year on snow tires. The car is terrific in the snow. I grew up in northern Ohio in the snow belt driving RWD cars (there were no front wheel cars back then). As long as you take it easy with all controls, you'll be fine. You gotta have snows though. I won't even drive my S with S02's -- I lost it once on a wet road and it cost close to $8000. This Winter, I decided to buy a beater and bought a '97 Ford Ranger 4x4. My S just basks in my girlfriends garage waiting for clear crisp Winter weekend days.

I have driven the S in the winter here with BALD Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's. I have been used to driving RWD in winter as my last car was a Mercedes Benz C280, my dad had an E320, and my mom had a BMW 325. For me it was no big deal, more fun than anything.
