Alternatives to our keys
Comparing the S2000 fob to my wife's Lexus key (which puts the buttons in the key head; no separate fob), I think ultimately Honda's approach is preferable. For one thing, it's way easier to replace the battery in the separate fob than in the little tiny key head.
Of course, the best answer is the Prius-style (and others, now) keyless approach. The "key" is just a coded radio transceiver. As long as it is on your person, or anywhere in the car, you are authorized (or whatever the computer security geeks call it). You simply press "On" (or in our case, Start) and everything works. No key to be inserted anywhere. I gotta admit, this made me stop and say "Cool!" when I first encountered it. Just don't leave it in the car!

Not sure why Honda is so cheap not install a basic alarm system on s2k (even a $20k RSX comes with alarm). As far as I know, new s2k don't come with alarm, it only come with remote entry. For those of you who not sure wether they have alarm or not, test this. use remote lock the car while leave top down, then open the door from inside without using remote, if no sound and no flash, then you don't have alarm from factory.

And you can get a factory alarm from Honda on an S2000, but factory alarms are pretty worthless since the designs are well known and easily defeated. Take an S with a factory alarm, cut the top and open it, climb in and steal the seats, steering wheel, etc, and the alarm will never go off.
"krazy?" Like the glue?
I am sure there are others that may be more astetically pleasing to you. However, it's the KEYFOB, not artwork. It is functional, not about bling.
This is a reciever for the two-way pager system on the car. So if the alarm is triggered, the car "pages" me on the keyfob to tell me that the alarm has been triggered. The screen indicates if a door, the trunk or the hood were opened. It also flashes an indicator if the proximity sensor was tripped (soft top slashed.)
The antenna is there to help provide the highest range of any two-way pager system on the market.
