looks to be more like 7 at the most. there is a difference between 7whp and "10-15whp"

just goes to show how reliable the butt dyno is. and yes i am aware that "area under the curve" is more important than peak hp. since his peak hp barely improved, i'd say the exhaust/cat/headers weren't as restrictive as he had previously mentioned. i'd imagine that midrange hp increase came from the headers, not the exhaust. we were discussing the exhaust. (btw, this was before he had the header on the car.)

But, considering the exhaust weighs 55lbs less than the stock exhaust system and probably increases power by 10-15hp
^ no mention of headers. like i said i bet that's what is pumping up his midrange.

but hey, i bet it sounds good.

I was once interested in buying either Amuse R1000 or the J's Racing 70RR but according to my research online Amuse and J's do required to use their retuned ECU.

No you don't. You however will need to bypass the O2 sensors if you're retaining the use of the OEM ECU.

that's a lotta money for a couple horses. I went down this road in my Prelude. And I swore to never make the same mistake again. Then again, I'm not big on loud exhausts but if I were I would've been more happy with my DC Header and Thermal exhaust setup on that car. But I paid dearly for little gain.

well guys i got the r1000 aswell and will be posting my gains in jaunary as im waiting for my js header and ems so well see the power out there once its tuned properly w/ an ems. i honestly believe i will net some good gains w/ the mugen intake, j's header and r1000 tuned with the ems.
im also looking into the new carbon fiber manifold from ctae.
ill have spent 5k easily but my reliablity is nothing of concern for me unlike me going turbo etc.

make sure you dyno the car before you tune it so the ems is not a factor in the power output from the exhaust mods. the ems will give you much better gains than the exhaust will.

remember our discussion a month or two ago in the "which exhaust rules all" thread?

<snip>

hate to say i told you soooooooo.
Sorry for the slow response... I've been in Europe for a few weeks with no time to browse S2KI. But here's my response now:

All I can really say is that I believe there's more to this story. Don't disregard the fact that I have been having issues with my camshafts and ended up replacing the cam chain tensioner (even though the car had less than 9k miles on it at the time). I suspect I may be having timing issues which are impeding the car's performance. I can't substantiate this with proof, but it is something I plan to try to verify. If I do, you can expect to see a post here on S2KI about it (though I may not remember to come back to this particular thread).

I still believe that the car is stronger and quicker with this exhaust than it was without it, but I also believe that there is something that is preventing the engine from producing the power that it should be able to produce with my mods. I just hope I can track that demon down.
