Then how come you didn't add it as a "mod" in your signature?

Every time I switch on the defroster and turn off the A/C, I just grin. Amazing! I actually leave it in defrost mode sometimes now... This has to be the best mod you can make to a 2002!

i think the fact that you can't turn the AC off when on defrost is annoying as well, but i think honda's decision to do this has more to do with safety issue than anything else. i'm sure most of you have experienced that the windshield tend to fog up more when you first turn on the defroster without the AC. if you are driving at 40mph in heavy rain or snow, and turn on the defroster (without AC), the initial blast of humid air can fog up the windshield to the point where the low visibility becomes an extremely hazardous situation. on top of that, if you then have to take your hands off the steering wheel and your eyes momentarily off the road to fumble with the AC button, you are just asking for a potential disaster. as annoying as the feature may be, i think honda made the right decision of placing safety first. for those who are concerned with the blast of cold air, you can always turn up your temp dial (which will not damage the AC). during defrosting, the AC merely serves as a dehumidifier; the cold air is just a byproduct.

Then why did 2000-2001 S2000's let you turn it off?

And, the brand new 2003 civic doesn't turn the a/c "on" when you put it in defrost mode, unless you press the "a/c" button.

why don't you just turn the heat all the way to the right? that way u get dry air from the A/C and it's hot. that's what i do.
