It does look fixable from the pics, but it's going to expensive (like more than $7000, assuming no frame damage). If the airbags didn't go off, and both doors open right, the car's probably in good shape.

If there's any frame damage, it'll likely be totalled.

I'm thinking the hood, passenger fender, both headlights and front bumper need replacing. Not sure if the radiator/fan/ac condendser got damaged, if not I'm thinking around $1000-$1500 in parts+paint

any damage to suspension area?
When I drove her to the side of the road, I definitely heard crunching coming from the passenger side front wheel well. And I'd be willing to bet both front fenders are going to need replacement.

As for it she's worth repairing or not, she's an '05 with ~58,000 miles on her. The body shop is taking their sweet time, so hopefully I'll know something by Tuesday.

It's good you have USAA.

If the worst happens and the other company low-balls, USAA will probably step in. They did it twice for me.

Damn, glad you're okay. I'm absolutely terrified of other drivers for this reason.

$1500 is a typical price from a shop to replace a bumper with a new OEM cover...I wouldn't be surprised if it was 6-8k.

Glad your okay. If the frame is damaged I see the car being totaled. We're all hoping hood, fenders, headlights, front bumper cover, few plastics and such.

I find all distracted drivers, regardless of age, to be our biggest nemesis. Sorry to hear about it though. At least you have USAA.

I was driving home from the grocery store, had a green light approaching an intersection, (speed limit 45, and I'd seen cops out on my way to the store, so I was doing 47-48), and a driver coming the other direction decided to make a left turn to a highway on-ramp without making sure the intersection was clear (unprotected, i.e. no arrow left turn). She made the turn just as I hit the white line for the stoplights, and despite my best efforts, I was still moving at about 20-25 miles/ hour when I plowed into the passenger side of her car.

Unfortunately for me and my baby, she was driving an '01 Volvo V70 station wagon. The driver, an 18 year old girl, didn't even realize I was there until after the impact. Hopefully her parents have good insurance.

Cops clearly cited her for being at fault for failure to yield to oncoming traffic, but I'm not sure yet if she's going to be totalled or not- what do y'all think?

I just had the same thing happen to me about two months ago... Air bags didnt blow and my front end looked very similar to yours. after all said and done it was 7600.00$ to replace front fenders, hood, and bumper and everythign underneath that got damaged and painted. I will say the paint will never match again i have been fighting with the autobody shop for 3 weeks now about the color not matching... silver is very hard to match. They may be painting my whole car if they cant fix the color issue.

Just got the call from the repair shop this morning- they're chalking her up as a total loss. The estimator I was working with informed me that he'd valued the car at ~$18.5K, and stopped counting when his estimate for damage got up to $12K. Not to mention the frame rails being apparently pretty badly damaged, with one of them being completely sheared in half. I'll get pictures when I go to get the rest of my stuff out of her this afternoon, and the hunt for a new S starts as soon as I hear back from USAA about what I'm going to get for her.

Now I'm even more pissed off at the other driver- I hadn't even had Sheba for two years yet.
