Another One Bites the Dust...
do research, get values from NADA RETAIL and look up cars locally for sale and Stand Your Ground on the cost to replace it. The insurancecompany will lowball you, several times. It took me 5 weeks of back and fowarth to get a fair value for my car.. They also need to pay tax, tag and title/registration costs(based on the replacement value) also as it was not your fault you have to buy another car.
I went and cleaned out the rest of my stuff from inside my car this afternoon- that was a lot more painful than I was expecting. With the front bumper and fenders off, I was able to get a lot closer look at the damage, and it was a lot easier to tell just how bad the accident was- the entire front end up to the wheels was literally sheared to the right with the force of the impact. Still, she did exactly what she was supposed to do, and protected me from the forces of the accident.
You can see here how badly the frame rail was twisted on the passenger side of the car:

And here's the rail on the other side. Notice how it's literally fractured in the middle at the bend.

Another shot of the frame on the passenger side:

One more VIN to take off the registry due to a total loss...

I freakin' love USAA. Just talked to the claims adjuster, and including the deductible that will be paid back by the other driver, they valued the car at $18.5K. I paid about $800 more than that after taxes, licensing fees, etc. Time to start looking for another one now...
