As an avid fan, (driving 3rd s2k), my vote is get another.
However; when weather is bad, drive the beater(mine is a Rodeo)!

Unfortunately, given the cost of parking in central Tokyo, I am not able to afford a second car. This is a real shame since they can be picked up very cheap here, but parking will add up to the cost of the car very quickly.

I guess I will have to take the train in bad weather in future, or buy the 911 (993) off my friend who is trying to sell it to me so he can get a 996 C4!!

Invest in a pair of Dunlop SP-9000 performace radials. They are the abosolute best tire for dry AND wet weather. I had these on my '98 Cobra (with 300 lb/ft. of RWD torque) and never had a scary incident.

If it snows, leave the S2000 in the garage.

James,

Sorry to hear about the accident. I hope you decide to get another S2K.

As far as tires are concerned, Prolene has tried almost every tire out there and he really like the Dunlop SP 8000's. They are not as sticky as the S-02's but are much more predictable. You can tell when they are going to break loose.

Keep us updated on the situation.

If you decide to get another S2000 ... Make sure it's a Type V. You will find that it behaves very well in the wet and the dry is significantly better once you get used to the steering, only an owner can tell you how good it feels when you drive the car. Other than which, there are so many options of used performance Japanese cars anywhere in the country. Maybe you should get a 4WD sports car this time.

Sounds all too familiar. On Friday on SR 417 (Expressway) on a typical Central Florida rainy afternoon, my S2K decided to leave the road and bathe in the grass and mud. Speed was approx. 70 mph, there was a slight turn in the road with a small moving trickle of water. 3 other vehicles spun out in front of me. Back end of the S2K got light and ended up where the front should have been. The car just missed a concrete light pole but did end up in the ditch on the side of the road. The car is fine and has no body or other damage (except the detail job on Thursday was a waste ).
Anyone have other suggestions for tires? My husband runs Michelin Pilot Sports on his NSX, anyone tried them on the S2K?
