Interesting. I don't know what the story was with the other driver, they were 3rd in a line of three cars turning left - I can only assume that they went because the people in front of them went. It wasn't like it was even close (like they almost made it and I just clipped them), as you can I see I hit them in the front of their car even *after* I swerved off to the right. I'm pretty sure if whoever was driving had looked in my direction that they would not have gone unless they had a deathwish. I'm just glad that I didn't t-bone them, that would have been a lot messier, for both us.

Did your airbag deploy?

Were you driving w/ your lights on?

Crash,

That suks... glad you're ok!

I'm in Gaithersburg and just picked up my car last week, a 04 S2K. Where in Germantown did this occur. I'm a little nervous driving my new car and I'm constantly scanning mirrors and all directions at intersections as I approach. It's the other guys I worry about.

Hope it all turns out good for you with possibly a new S in your future.

Hoping to meet some of the locals soon.

Thanks, it only had 25k on it (short commute). Don't want to start a color flamewar here but I'm leaning towards Silverstone, the black was great but its a b!tch to keep clean, I think I'd like to try a different color. - I guess I need to go to a dealership and check them all out in person.

Yes, both airbags deployed. No on the lights.

I hate reading stuff like this. I was out on my CBR 600 F4 yesterday and an incident like this on the bike would result in my death. I generally slow down a bit when I approach an intersection on the bike, but it seems like there little defense against stupid drivers.

My brother was in a similar situation (roles swapped). He says he had a green arrow and he was involved in a collision with an oncoming car, the driver of which said he had a green light. It is obvious (as this light has been there for years) that only one could be telling the truth. I believe my brother 100% (though, I was not a witness). I believe my brother because of further investigation of the operation of the light and the other facts that he has stated regarding other cars.

I won't go into all the details, but I do have an important piece of advice: First, I am not suggesting to lie. I would suggest the opposite, even if that means admitting you were at fault due to a mistake made. It happens.

However, my advice is that if you believe you had a green light (which I have no reason to doubt), DO NOT EVER SAY YOU 'THINK' YOU HAD A GREEN LIGHT! Say that you KNOW you had a green light. That together with a witness should be enough. My brother, being an honest person, said that the couldn't be 100% sure, even though the person in front of him just went through the same turn (you can only turn on a green arrow, there is not yield on a green light), and the fact that we've investigated the light sequence and all its triggers. Just the fact my brother said he couldn't remember, was enough for him to lose in arbitration. He most likely lost against someone who told a complete lie.

Sorry about the accident. I too am glad to see that you're ok, and again glad to see that these cars seem to provide decent safety to the driver in such cases. Again, I have no reason to doubt your statements, I'm only offering advice so that you don't lose to someone telling a lie, because of a wishy-washy statement such as "I think..." Best of luck!
