I had a lady almost back up into me three times in the parking lot of a local restaurant. I pulled in the driveway and she was already parked. Because the takeout driveway was packed, I couldn't get squeeze through and go into the parking area.

I was waiting until I noticed a car backing up straight into my front pass. fender area. I honked several times in panic. (1 month S2k, hell yeah I was shi@#ing) Sooo...the lady stops and I relax and continue to wait. All of a sudden the car starts reversing again!!! Dang, I start blaring my horn until the car stops again. Suddenly 5 seconds later she starts backing up again. Keep in mind I have no where to go, can't reverse because of cars behind me. I basically hold on to my horn and start yelling and the car finally stops withing inches of my fender. Good lord!

She pulls back into her stall and I drive foward and start yelling at her. She actually has the audacity to yell back and said she had the right of way because she was reversing first. Isn't that the crazy? Just wanted to share my crazy near accident story with you guys. I think part of the problem may have been that I had the top down and she couldn't see me.

From what I see in the picture, there was a substantial amount of impact. It could have been a lot worse if the speed was higher or if the angles at which the two cars collided were different. Even though you were only doing 50 mph, it looks as if there is considerable damage.

I am speculating severe frame damage, the left front corner (suspension) is gone. I can't see the right side of the car in the photo, but there is possible damage to the right side suspension as well. Radiator, various engine parts as well as engine bay damage. Possible cracked engine block or cracked transmission. The hood, both quarter panels, were looking at about, I assume, 10,000 in body work plus frame straightening and fabrication. Rebuild left and right suspension. Two new front wheels. Replacement of radiator and the various engine parts plus labor. Just a rough ballpark estimate, I am guessing about 15,000 dollars.

Given the amount of damage, I will assume the the adjuster will more then likely total out your poor S. I am really sorry that this happened to you. Look on the bright side, yer still walkin and talkin. In no time you will be driving a new S.

Heh heh - I'd be happy to but if they total it then its not mine to sell and if they dont total it then I suspect I'll need them If they total it I can put you in touch with the tow yard where the car is being kept, I suspect they will know where the car is going to be sold off to so maybe you can negotiate with them for parts.
