Default Any down side to using key-less lock/unlock

OK, I'll admit that I learned to drive in an era when remote (key-less) entry did not exist. And even after they became widely available, I did not use it because I didn't want to carry yet another bulky thingie in my pocket ("Is that a remote in your pocket or are you just glad to see me...").

So, now I have the S2000, with the remote for the door and trunk release. Although I still use the key most of the time, I sometimes find myself using the remote to open the trunk before I get to the car to put things in. And I tend to use the remote to lock the car while walking away after parking.

My question: Is there any down-side to using the remote? Does anything wear out or could potentially malfunction because I use the remote too much? I am just an old guy trying to adapt to these new ways of doing things. Thanks.

As a kind of side issue, I found that I could program my S2000 to use my CRV keyless remote, so I need only one bulky remote in my pocket.

I've found NOT using remotes to be problematic ... end up getting little scratches around the lock for misc. reasons (mostly related to the wife not being careful).

Have fun,
Derek

You can use the key in the locks? I thought it was just for the ignition...

Yer such a goof. But nova does have a point about the scratches though.
White, I'm a geezer and I've gotten spoiled with the keyless thing. My feeling is, what am I saving this feature for even if I do wear it out? Honestly, I don't think you'll wear it out anymore than any other electromechanical system on the car. It's a bonus and a luxury. ENJOY!

downside to the remote overuse: changing the battery.

dhayner: can you provide any info on re-programming other Honda remotes to work on the S2000? I'm having to carry around the one for the Odyssey and my S2K. Wonder what I could get the power sliding door open buttons to do on the S2K

Thought I lost the extra one about 6 months ago...found out a new one is $125. How's that for a downside ? Luckily, I later found the remote...so did not have to make a decision.

My original batteries are still OK after 22 months/ 20K miles.

Having to make a decision, since there are three choices.
