Ok, for less than $250 more you can get an OEM softop from Hardtopguy WITH the wiring harness for a pre 02. I'm not sure the item that keeps rain from getting inside your car is the place you want to scrimp.

As to your vinyl vs canvas side, never ever buy vinyl for a convertible top. That is some cheap arsed material. First off, it looks terrible, and secondly it will mold.

I know this only because my wife's little sister owns an older Pontiac Firechicken convertible with a white vinyl top. Now while the white shows it more readily, I can gurantee that my top has NO mold but hers is completely covered.

what? the OEM top is vinyl!

i have not seen a canvas top on an s2000 but on other cars they are much nicer looking than vinyl. The miata offers the option of vinyl or canvas and the canvas top looks much more expensive.

If I replaced my top and had the option of a real canvas top I would go that route.

Are you sure? I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the OEM tops are canvas.

Hrm, good to know. It must be the texturing, because that firebird/TA softop looks like cheap plastic compared to the S softop.

If you go to CabrioWorld.com you will notice that the price of $685 is their standard price for that material. Seems like a good price to me, they are just using Ebay to advertise, no need to bid, just buy straight from the site. Also, there is a huge collection of color choices. Anyone used one of their kits that includes the plastic to glass conversion equipment? I find this interesting.
