Default Any idea how much this will cost?

So my otherwise immaculate S2K, which I park as far away as possible, was sideswiped today in our parking garage. The a$%hole left no note of course. Ugh, I dislike people in general more and more everyday. Anyhow, in some spots, the white paint/scratches appear to be on the surface. In other spots, they appear to have gone through the paint (you can see dark gray/black underneath).

What do you guys think? Will the rear bumper and quarter panel need complete resprays, or will they be more simple to repair? Also, any idea on cost? Thanks in advance... steaming mad!

Hard to imagine how this could have happened without any apparent metal deformation accompanying the scratching given that the edge of the rear wheel well is well "outside" the plane of the scratch furtuer up on the rear quarter panel! Be that as it may, I would probably be looking at a complete respray of the reaf end after appropropriate repairs/patching. Do you have any Hit and Run fund against which to claim this damage so that your insurance is not impacted. You have reported it to the police??

That sucks dude.

My guess is $1000 if they have to do the entire rear bumper. The cost of labor hours is always going up. I can't wait to see what it will cost me to get my S2000 PDR'd and have the front end repainted to make all the rock chips go away.

Thanks for the help.

What's crazy, and lucky for me, is that I don't see any metal deformation. I've looked at it numerous times from different angles and in different lighting.

I took photos, spoke to my apartment complex's manager, posted fliers around the community and filed a police report. I think I may have found the culprit too, based off fishy behavior and silver paint on their back bumper the same height as my damage. Wish there were security cameras. Not sure what else I can do though, aside from confronting the person that possibly/probably did it.

I plan to get an estimate from a reputable body shop either tomorrow or Thursday. From there, I'll decide if it's out of pocket or an insurance claim. I'm hoping an entire bumper and panel respray isn't necessary.

A buddy of mine works for Colors on Wheels, and they do a lot of paint work and blending so that it's cheaper than getting a whole piece painted.
