The engine is solid, the transmission is a delight, especially the '02 AND '03's. The only real weakness is the rear diff / joints. I've heard from a large number of people that have problems with them after many miles. On of my rear's just started the dreading "ticking" at 13,500 mi.

Just my gut level feeling of the car; I don't sell 'em. I don't have any stats to back this up either, just have been reading the board for quite some time.

oh - and the clutch is a little weak by sports car standards; but my personal theory is that Honda designed it as such to prevent wear on the engine due to hard shifts.

Bottom line: Drive one, either you'll love it or you'll know it's not for you.

Hello fellow Calgarian. Those with problems will more than likely post about them here immediately while those without you'll never hear from at all. So, before you get all the doom and gloom, please check this out so you can balance out some of the stuff you're about to hear:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=79802
I have a MY'00 and the car has never seen a dealership for any warranty repair work.

Also, if you go to the library, you'll see all the TSB's (technical service bulletins) that Honda has issued on this car. These are "potential" issues that they have addressed to take care of customers should they encounter these issues. The only known recalls have been a seat belt tensioner issue and a spark plug issue on the early model years.

If you are interested, you should keep track of "Prairie Redliners" sub-forum. That's where we will plan our meets and where the regulars hang out. You might like to come out and meet with in the future and talk about the car. We'd also be happy to give you what info we can on the local S2000 market place.

Oh, and here's another good one:

Welcome fellow Calgarian.

If I'm thinking that you are who I think you are, then not to worry about the stalwart S2k transmission. Sure it may be notchy from time to time, but it will have no where near the problems that you encountered with your Prelude.

Cheers

xviper - this one's for you.

I've only had mine a short time (bought last fall). but I love it. I drive it hard, and soft, everday. Check the oil all the time (overbearing father syndrome) and have had no problems (knock on wood). except for that dang noise in the passanger seat I can't find. grrrrrr. The engine is exquisite.
