Any update on the "3rd Gear Notch"?
Thanks for the replies guys. After how long should I switch to the GM Syncromesh? I especially get it, the notch feeling, when shifting at higher rpms (under 5500 rpms of course, for now.)
If I hesitate, it is less of a burden. I guess its something I will have to live with

you mean to say that the shifting is still not completely fixed in 2002 models. Wasn't that one of the things that was suppose to be upgraded?

LOSTSOL, I have the 02' with 2-3rd notch, I was surprised as well to find that the problem came over from the 01' year into the new model. In fact, the problem was worse for me at high rev shifts, had me thinking about a future blown engine/miss-shift incident that help me awake at night!
Another possibly related problem was that my revs dropped too quickly between shifts (even very quick shifts), I had to blip the throttle or the notch would show its ugly head again. I checked the throttle cable slack, which is supposed to be @ 1/2" of total travel, it was a little more, so I tightened the sucker up a little to about 3/8" travel and the rev drops are a little less severe, it helped. Just make sure you don't over tighten it or your idle revs will rise, not good. Try this and the Synchromesh, between the two, my car feels really nice and easy to drive around town!! Soy

My 2002 has about 1100 miles on it and the 3rd gear notch happens nearly 100% of the time if I shift below 3500 rpm. I've never had it happen at high rpms though... Strange that we're seeing nearly opposite symptoms.
MY 2002, I only feel the "notch" when my engine is still cold, (under 3 bars). After driving for a while and warming up it seems to be smooth shifting. I always shift @ 4K - 5.5K. I never feel it ("notch") when I'm in VTEC land. So I really don't know what to do. Guess I will try other Transmission Fluid later on.
BTW, I have about 5800 miles on it.

Here's my latest updated notes on the subject.......
The following are some of the reported problems and solutions as reported by Honda and by owners:
1 SHIFTING
A large number of owners have reported either a notchy feeling or actual grinding when shifting in the lower gears since the car was introduced. Others report it is the smoothest shifter ever.
