Anyone disappointed with their S2k?
By the comments coming from your wife id say that you finally drove the car "properly" hahaha.
Im glad you enjoyed the S, it truley is a remarkable machine. I own a CR as well and cant think of one thing i dont love about it.
A simple solution to the hardtop only factor is to just pick up an interior cover to throw in the trunk. That way if your driving without the HT youve got a backup plan should there be any unsuspected rain. Im assuming you would be keeping the HT off most of the time, and if not then youve got nothing to worry about! Cheers

Also, OP - this has been one of my favorite threads on here.
Edit: here's an interior cover that includes an S2000 application: http://www.drivingcomfort.com/evolution-4-...onvertibles.cfm
or this: http://www.amazon.com/PopTop-Interior-Cock...T/dp/B001S2XOB6
i do remember seeing the cover (just goes over the interior) and it's meant for temporary light rain i guess. not like a real soft top...and obviously you can't drive w/ it on so you can't get caught in the rain. i remember seeing it in the CR owners thread.
back on topic i'm also glad you got to see what all of us here love. hope you get the CR although for me too the lack of a soft top is a big drawback. good luck!

I've never driven them but when reading Lamborghini and Ferrari pornography I have read that those cars also feel like they are going to vibrate apart at every single bolt location.
You must have been reading about a 308 or Mondial, you can get rattles but once again gonna be the 80's car.
The reviewers didn't say they didn't like the vehicles either, just that was the nature of operating one.
that does sound very familiar to what I felt of in a Countach i don't have much seat time in them at all but they are impossible to see out and I believe literally had tractor transmissions. The modern exotic is extremely driver friendly and has every creature comfort you could want (to a fault) . But once again when you get into pure drivers cars I really feel like our S2k's are easily among the best.
I fell in love with the first drive. I had never driven anything that had a handle like that to the road. I remember now, thinking too that it lacked power. I remember flooring it, and thinking "wow thats it?". Now that I have had the car for almost a year, I have learned how to really get every horsepower out of it. Now quite a few people I know would rather not ride in my car, because its so fast (and loud).
Definitely, first thing you should do when you get it. Go to an open space and try some drifting, and slide the car. The reaction of the car will definitely surprise you. TRUST ME, do this soon as you can. I almost wrapped around a tree cause I didnt know...

This is similar to guys I know who dated lots of different women in college but never kept one for more than 6 months....then you end up 30 and single and those attractive women you threw back are married and off the market and your left with fat girls, divorced women with baggage or single mothers to choose from in your age group.

The car felt pretty nimble and tight, but once I got it out on the highway, I was surprised how gutless it felt. I wasn't expecting a tq monster, but I have to say I really expected more. It just lacked punch, and it really felt bogged down, and seemed to accelerate pretty damn slowly.
The salesman was with me, so I wasn't able to really wring it out, but still getting up to 6500-7, and shifting in a fairly quick manner, left me a bit un-impressed.

I realize this. I have owned numerous honda's as well..lol I guess I just expected more. 6500 is pretty deep into the RPM band FWIW.

You can read all about the notchy S2000 transmission on this forum - it's a well known "issue." The scare quotes are there because you should absolutely not be feeling the notchy shifts at high RPM - this is where the shifter feels as smooth as a rifle bolt. You can also nearly stop all notchiness at lower RPM shifts through technique, specifically dwell between shifts. I had the technique down pretty good with in a few weeks of driving the car daily; now I only get notchy shifts if it's cold or I blow it.
i didnt go through all 5 pages,..but only advice is that for the car to feel quick you need to keep it in its powerband,..which is where most other cars are close to redline,.. wind it out youll see
