Anyone doing 1/4 miles?
I'm heading out to Carlsbad this weekend (sat) to see what mine will do. It's not something I plan to do much of, but I am curious to compare real times with magazine times.
I don't plan to launch it hard, so we'll see what happens.
I've never been there, but I'd rather do a 1/4 mile for $10 on a Sat afternoon than 1/8 for $20 at Quallcom's friday nights.

From the site:
Street Drags & Test n Tune EVERY SATURDAY
Gates open at 11:00 A.M.
We race from 4 to 6 hours, depending on car count
General addmission-$15 Race entry-$10
I'll post my results Sat night or Sunday. If your in SoCal, come on out!

Hey Geekd, Sorry i couldnt talk more to you (BEAUTIFUL CAR btw), it was so packed at Carlsbad I could only fit in 5 runs the entire day and i was having a stupid amount of problems; I'm not used to, and my car isnt set up, for running slicks
As for carlsbad,
the 1/4 mile ET was OFF, the MPH was OFF. That was the most frustrating day I have ever had out there. My WORST launch w/ a 2.4 60ft (SLICKS!) netted me a 14.1, and my BEST launch of only a 2.0 60ft got a 14.5........based on previous times i was hoping for mid 13's, oh well. The guys were telling some people that the ET's were "sometimes" off by .5, and they were only telling the 11 & 12 second crowd, so it's a mystery how the times really were.....but keep in mind Carlsbad is probably the most poorly run 1/4 track in all of California, from the rednecks who know nothing about racing (but become really nice guys when you become a regular) to the poorly prepped track, which was actually hooking up really well that day.
*by looking at your slips, this is just a rule of thumb, dont flame me for this but for every tenth off your 60ft times you can cut, is two-tenths off of your ET. I dont see why your car cannot get at least a 2.2 60ft time, so as frustrating as it may have seemed low 14's for any year of the S2ks are easily obtainable, it's just a matter of how hard do you want to treat the car?
I think it was a smart move on your part taking it easy on the diff, the guys out there that cut the great times in S2K's i have talked to were launching & slipping the clutch around 7k and taking the tire PSI down to dangerously low levels......i can't complain since I was dropping the clutch @ 8k
*edited for crap spelling
