Anyone else feel that reverse-gear is geared too high?
Whenever I back up, I always have to slip the clutch... if I try to engage the clutch fully, I'd either stall out or be backing up way too fast. Anyone else notice this? I actually stalled out the first time I tried backing up, cuz I didn't realize how long reverse-gear was.
Welcome to the S2ki community...next step is to register your car on this site so you can have owner status..
As for reversing...
My friend, you need practice thats all..
I back my car up into my garage and the driveway has a slight incline. I never have problems reversing. Depending on the speed you may need to slip the clutch especially when reversing very slow. Another think I should point out is that its harder to do when the engine is cold and the idle is high...Cold idle is around 1500rpms so sometimes its a good idea to wait until that idle has gone down somewhat b4 reversing/driving..
I hope this helps

I agree completely, maybe some people like to rocket backwards out of their parking spots and such but I almost never get the clutch fully engaged in reverse.
I prefer my speed in a more forwardly direction

I have never given reverse a second thought. It seems about the same as all manual cars I have driven. I guess tomorrow I will have to do some reversing (no V-TECing though) and pay more attention.

Nah, i'm ok with it. The first time I had to pop it in reverse was with an audience of about 12 people looking at me in the dealership parking lot. This was actually my first time driving the car (I had no idea where the clutch engaged or anything) Most of them were nervous salesmen all scared cause they though I didn't know how to handle my stick.
