Anyone know when 2002 S2K is coming?

If they already had the engine developed then they would've put it in the car in the first place!?! I would be very surprised to see a 2.2L go into this car in 2002. Essentially (if they did that) Honda would be saying their 50 Anniversary car wasn't good enough so they've got the redo it. So I really really don't think that will happen (despite what the 'supposed' insiders say). Maybe Honda might do that later down the road (like 2004+) and likely then the car would not be called a S2000 and, at least in the US, would likely be an Acura.

Regarding the 2002 S2000, has anyone else seen the rumor that next year's version will have a 2.2-liter engine, with 265 hp and "significantly" increased torque? I believe the story started in the UK, at the same site that's showing a drawing of a 140-hp, 1.3-liter S1300 that's a Miata lookalike. And no, unfortunately I don't know where that site is.

Just my pennyworth.
Fact is, no one knows exactly if the next NSX is going to be cheaper or more expensive. There have been rumors for both. As for the 2.2 liter engine, I would highly doubt that will happen...like STL said, it would be like Honda saying their 50th anniversary car isn't good enough.
As for those people that want them to stop so they have good resale value...who are you kidding? Ferraris are extremely in comparison to the S2000, and you can pick up a Testarossa nowadays for about 50k.

I find it hilarious about everyone bitching about a 2002 model. If the only reason you bought an S2K was exclusivity, for god's sake, I think you need to rethink your decision. I too think it is cool that they are fairly rare, but I am not going to have a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach if a 2002 model comes along.
It sounds to me like if they do keep making them, that the used car market might end up being flooded with 2000 and 2001 models from owners who think they're no longer rare enough. Enjoy the car for what it is, not how many are out there. And buying an S2K thinking it is going to hold 95% of it's value or even increase over time? Yeah.....my Spa Yellow retirement fund

Well I think resale value is an important consideration in the purchase of a car. There's some people who bought the S2K who can buy something else while some bought the S2K because it was best for what they're willing to pay.
S2K is 48,000CDN. If I own a car that has $38,000 tradein value it would definately be easier to make the tradein decision if I know that in 3 years the S2K will be at $40,000 while the current car will be 20,000.

S2000 is made for the Honda's 50th birthday. The 2.2L is for Honda to compete with IS300 and Nissan XVL. Both thing are different. Smart company improve on disadvantage. So I rather have Honda address the probelm then them not seeing the problem and stick with the current car.
Well, let's just face the facts:
Sure it's a Honda, and Honda's hold their value well, but it's a little more expensive, and many people are less willing to spend the big bucks on a used car, and you are not going to get what you paid for it. If you're worried about resale value - sell it now. If not, drive the darn car like you bought it for.
Despite what you might have heard from you're local dealer, Honda is going to continue producing this as well as their other awesome cars. Wouldn't you love it if Honda came out with even more sports cars? I would be.
