Anyone in LA know someone who can do this for me?
I was fortunate enough to go to japan for spring break and i picked up a couple things including a JDM Key, but i really dont feel like cutting up my key and taking out the chip and doing all that complicated stuff. Anyone know a shop or something in LA who does key copying and might be able to replace the chip? BTW since yen is really strong right now in Japan, i got the key for approximately $30, i don't know exactly what they sell for. It's a geniune honda part it came with the barcode on the bag and so on. Well thanks.

it looks exactly like that! However, the part number isnt on the key(or maybe it is i havent checked closely) it was on the bag i remember, but someone had threw it out. It seemed like a geniune key because it came in a bag that had a sticker. On the sticker it said Honda in red, under that like Geniune Parts and it said like OEM key , and had a part Number: thats all i could remember.
I can also add that i had asked the clerk if it was the REAL key for a Japanese S2000, and they had replied yes. They had also said that there was no chip in them because in Japan they dont need that kind of security.

i called a Honda parts dealer in Japan, and maybe my Japanese is rusty, but he said something to the effect of: "there are MANY different part numbers for the S2000 key. which one do you want?!!" at one point he got pretty annoyed with me as he explained (rough translation)
"there are slight differences with the keys. 2002 models uses different key with (slits?) that are slightly different than 2001 or 2000, you need to tell me which year model and serial number!"
is this true? or is he playing with a (obvious) gaijin?
