Ok after reading this thread last night and about 2-3 hours of researching through s2ki, I decided to schedule an appointment with a muffler shop during my lunch break and get this done. I would have waited until the weekend, but I figured WTF, I can't wait!

Anyway, I LOVE it! It's a both deeper and louder than stock. For those who posted that they don't see much of a difference- either you're not very observant, or you you just expected Ferrari sounds.

It's not very noticeable at idle or below 2500 rpm, but as it approaches 3K, and from 3K to 6K- it sounds awesome! Even going 50mph at 5th gear- it's definitely noticeable... I was going 75 on the highway and YES, the exhaust note was present- unlike before.

This was with the top up, like 20 degree weather... Also, it FEELS more responsive like it breathes easier or revs faster. Note that this is probably just my mind playing tricks on me due to the added volume, but whatever...

On another note- it DOES NOT sound like a 350Z. I drive a G35 Coupe regularly and it is a different sound altogether. I would even say that it's louder, but not as tuned or not as defined as the VQ exhaust notes. That being said, it sounds meaner albeit less technical. It doesn't sound like a ricer Civic whatsoever- not even close... I didnt get to see the car on the lift, so I can't see what kind of welding job they did, but judging by the sound, it seems to be well-done and I'm happy with the sound.

Anyway, everyone on this board should do it. Glad I got in early as my car is an 05 and has roughly 10,000 miles on it.

Well, thanks to everyone who posted and thanks for the suggestions!!!!!!!! I just saved about $800 on a new exhaust!

By doing this mod, would it effect emission testing? Would it cause someone to fail due to the removal of this "muffler" I am guessing it wouldn't since it seems to be there to muffle the sound of the exhaust, although I might be wrong?

i too think that my car is more responsive after i got my resonator removed....it does feel different, specially when i heel and toe or double clutch, when i rev it up... it seems like it revs up faster and rpm drops faster as well ....hmmm.....i wonder if this is all in the head??

When I get my S I plan on getting the resonator removed, and then I would like to get a testpipe. Has anybody done this?I wonder if it will be loud enough for me in combo with a intake, I want my car to be somewhat loud, if not I will get a Invidia/Skunk2 exhaust.

Yes it is. The resonator is not restrictive (just take a look through it and you'll see what I mean). It's not like removing a catalytic converter which does restrict flow (take a look through one of those to see what I mean as well).

But it costs $800.00 +,and "resonatorectomy" is free,$50.00.!!!

Remove the resonators and the S2000 will sound like it should've from the factory. Forget the aftermarket exhaust unless you're into looks.

I would rather save the money from the aftermarket exhauset for additional tires...
