Default anyone in S. Ca installed Rick's leather console? Looking for help.

Good morning everyone.

I just got my red leather console cover from Rick to match the shift boot that the fiancee bought for my birthday. I am anxious to install both of them.

The problem is that I am pretty much an idiot when it comes to all things mechanical. Oh... I can swing a wrench and use a screwdriver, etc. but anything beyond that is, well... beyond me.

The instructions that came with these beautiful pieces don't look to bad but to be honest I am a little leery about screwing up my car. Let's just call it an overabundance of caution.

I am hoping that someone in the S. Cali area (I am in S. Orange County) has already installed these items and would be willing to help a fellow stooker out. I will be glad to come to you, and I have most of the tools that are needed.

Anyone out there who can lend a hand? Of course, I will find someway of making it worth your while.

I've done it - it's pretty straightforward if you take your time. I'd be happy to help you out.

Another thought: are you going to the Irvine meet? If so, I'd bet a bunch of the people there will have done it and could help you install it right there at the meet. Otherwise send me an email...

Cheers,
John

I'm pretty novice myself and got it done pretty easily. Unscrew the shift knob, remove the plastic piece on the console, put on the leather covering, and put the plastic piece back on. Oh, the stereo covering takes a little wiggling of the door to get loose, but it'll eventually come out. The plastic piece on the console was easy to remove with my fingers alone. It just snaps off, a section at a time. I'll help you too if you need it, but you're a pretty smart guy so I don't think you'll have any problems.

You need to send Prolene an e-mail or PM. He's the pro when it comes to installing the console covers. The last few meets that I've been to, he just whips them on in no time.

Good luck with the install.
