Default anyone using a booster seat ?

In our owner's manual there is allowed use of a child booster seat with the passenger seat pushed as far back as possible, to avoid the air bag in case of collision.

I wanted to know if anyone is using a childseat, or a booster seat in their "S" ?

and at what age is a booster seat allowable ? 3, 4 ?

No - and there's no way in hell I would without some form of airbag shutoff. Even if there is an "allowance" for it, I can't imagine a responsible parent/guardian sticking a 4 year old child in that type of situation.

My 2 cents.

I use a booster seat for my 4 year old daughter. There is really plenty of room for the airbag to deploy without crushing the child, but just for peace of mind for my wife I had a passenger side airbag cutoff switch installed for when she rides with me. There is a bit of a hassle with doing this, as you need a permission letter from the NHTSA before you can install the switch or get someone else to do it for you. Heres the link for finding everything you need to get this done near you

I use a booster seat for my kids (4 and 7)
and I have an passenger airag switch installed. If you choose Sensible Solutions (www.airbagonoff.com) to install a switch be careful and ask some very hard questions about how they wire the switch in. I currently have a BBB complaint open against them.

sj2000,

I have a four-year-old and had to have an airbag on/off switch installed in my S2K before she could ride in it. Here's the procedure I had to go through:

1. Go here: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/

2. Click on "Air Bags"

3. Scroll down a bit and click on "On-Off Switch Request Form"

4. Print the form out, and mail it to this address: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
Attention: Air Bag Switch Request Forms
400 Seventh Street, S. W.
Washington, D.C. 20590-1000

5. It'll take about a week to ten days to get your permission slip back (You need this to go to an installer. They will not do the job without it.)

6. Go here: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/airbags/referral.html

7. Scroll down to the installers (they don't have a number for Honda customer service) Call all of the installers until you find one in your area (I used "Airbag Service" and they were spectacular).

8. It cost about $350.00 to have one installed, and the installer will order the parts for you (the parts were included in the price in my case).

9. There's no better feeling in the world than sharing your S2000 with someone you love. My daughter loves tooling around town with me with the top down.

Hope this helps.

I have no problem putting my daughter in the S. She's 5yrs old and loves riding in the S. She does use a booster seat but when I put her in I pull the seat belt all the way out, so then as it retracts it locks in place. Shes in very tight.

I would never place my daughter in harms way on purpose!
Hey WildSideBilly do you have kids???

Back in 2000, when the first wave of owners considered taking their young ones for a ride, many debated the wisdom of an airbag cutoff switch. Some owners actually went to the NHTSA site and checked out the fatality statistics of children and airbags. The data indicated that most (90%) of the airbag fatalities were because the childeren were not wearing seatbelts. Some owners still went out and installed the switches. I did not. I use a booseter seat for my 7 and 5 year olds with the passenger seat pushed all the way back. That way, the distance from the dashboard and the child's head is more than 18". As an earlier poster stated, I'd rather have the airbag as a cushioning device rather than the dashboard.
