I def. prefer my '08 over my old '01 and '03. All were very capable as a track car, but the '08 is more comfortable/livalbe for daily use.

I found the 04-05 to be the worst of both worlds, looses too much rawness without enough of the improvements. Performance is so close that it doesn't really matter from that perspective.

If I was doing it all over I would get an 06+ unless I could not afford it. I like it and the AP1 equally, but the better retainers, better street manors, flashpro, better syncros etc... make it worth the extra money in durability and street-ability. But I would definitely get an AP1 over an 04-05.

So I drove a 2000 s2000 yesterday, a good friend and I switched for about 50 km. It was actually really cool to see the differences. It felt like the ap1 is sluggish down low compared to my car, my car can start taking off almost anywhere. Its a little bit of a different driving style for sure. Ap2 definitely faster straight line.

Handling wise, I dont think it needed any modification to tame it as zdave says. Its the driver mod. I had the car while leading a bunch of cars during a rainy day, I was still able to go quick around the corners, the car really is all about smooth in, smooth out. Exercise that rule, and it will handle like a dream. It was very sharp.
