AP1 vs AP2 question for the father of the S2K
Perhaps he learned from Mr. K, father of the 240Z (Fairlady Z in Japan), and largely responsible for Datsun's success in the U.S. He was always vocal that the 240Z was the best of them, and that subsequent Z's were inferior. He referred to the 280ZX as the "fat lady"
Anyway, he is absolutely REVERED in Z circles, but that kinda talk didn't do much for his career with Datsun/Nissan Japan, who never fully appreciated him.
As for AP1 vs. AP2, the AP2 doesn't offer anything to entice me. 10% more displacement is offset by 10% loss in revs, as far as I'm concerned that's a wash (though 9k rpm has much more coolness factor over 8k rpm than 2.2 liters has over 2.0). At least it didn't get much (any?) heavier.

The opportunity to meet the head engineer of one of the best sports cars in the history of automobiles. That is too cool. One of those silver Sharpies to the right of the radio. Perfect. My luck, I would of forgot it too.

Of course he wouldn't say the older S2000 is better than the current one on sale right now at Honda dealers, that would be pretty dumb coming from someone who works for Honda...
