[QUOTE=ZDan,Jun 1 2007, 11:52 AM]Generally, the displacement gained by going to a longer stroke gives more performance than lost rpm takes away.

Engines with high specific output are always oversquare.
Generally, yes, but in the specific case of the F22C, not so.
Bore = 87, stroke = 90.7, undersquare.

[QUOTE]Billman thinks the lowered redline was one of a number of changes made to the F22C to reduce the amount of damage during a mechanical over-rev.

I can't believe I don't know the answer to this question, but are there any tools out there to increase you redline (say to 8500 RPM) without having to run AP1 fuel maps? I know the VAFC and Emanage don't manage redline...

I'd say the AP1 ECU + eManage Ultimate would be a great combo.

theres a Hondata reflash for 06+ that raises the redline and tweaks the ECU a bit =)

hey thats my dyno Well it was Sam's actually while he still owned the car. I just combined the two images

20k+ miles on the AP1 ecu with no problem. I hit 8500+ multiple times a day. Heck, I seem to hit 8600-8700 a lot because my foot seems to be faster on the clutch than on the gas, so when I shift I usually end up kicking the revs a little higher than the 8500 where the shift beeper is screaming. I see this on my pocketlogger, it frequently says 8600-8700 is the highest recorded RPM.

GrandMastaKhan, lets freakin race!

I've lined up with a couple stock AP2s and have smoked them (I could just drive better I guess), and I don't want to attribute that soley to the test pipe and the intake, I'm sure the ECU is a large part of it.

Exactly. All else being equal, the over square engine will have a higher specific output. The F20C is more over square than the F22C, and that's one of the reasons it has a higher specific output (the other primary reasons being the higher redline, and perhaps cam profile differences, with some of the other changes also playing lesser roles).

I'm not disagreeing with you, but rather trying to work with you to make sure we don't miss any important detalis or considerations.

[QUOTE=ZDan,Jun 1 2007, 03:47 PM]As I suggested previously, the redline was reduced further than what the increased stroke would suggest.

how many miles on how many cars would you consider it to be safe at? i too am curious about how long the engine will last like this cuz when it's up at 9k, it sounds like a bomb ready to blow. btw, how much do u think it'll cost to replace my poor engine when it breaks? 4k?
