AP2 Keys in AP1?
Ok so im sure this has been discussed that AP2 keys look soooooooooooo much cooler than the ap1 keys, but im really looking into swapping the keys because those keys ARE that much cooler lol. but lets not start an ap1 vs ap2 thread please....
basically i have a question. now i know that if you swap keys youll need to swap ecu bla bla bla, BUT, what if i just swap the key cylinder so the ignition will fit the new ap2 key and just swap the immoblizer chip into the new ap2 key?
it SHOULD work am i correct?
does anyone know if the ap2 key cylinder will connect to the ap1 immbolizer? this way i wont have to switch the ecu, because ap2 ecu is lame (JK DONT START FIGHTING
). and i can have an awesome looking key. ill just take the ap1 key apart and move the immobilizer chip into the ap2 key.
and yes i searched i could not find anything about this.
btw here is a pic of the sexified ap2 key

Hmmm, given the scenario that you describe,
, it "should" work. I am pretty sure that the key chip antenna is in the same place (around the key cylinder) so it begs the question of whether the AP2 key cylinder will fit in the AP1 steering column without trouble.

I totally agree, i bought a blank EK9 key for my civic, and was thinking about doing the same for the S, but since it has an immobilizer I felt sort of screwed. I hope we get some positive info, I would like to do this if the price is within reason.
I think it's $500 with 3 keys included.....

somebody did a key mod at one time. I can't recall which site it was on though. Basically, the guy cut the chip out of the AP1 key, and then popped off the silver part of the AP2 key, and put the chip in there.
If I come across the guy's personal site again, I'll post a link, but I'm doubtful I'll be able to find it.

Its a waste of time, the silver part on the AP2 keys rubs off very easily and soon looks like crap.
. i REALLY want this key lol.
