Default AP2's center console plastic's trim question

I wish I have a picture to show this (but my photoshop and paint are both dead). Anyway ...

Does anyone know if the black plastic trim that goes on top of the leather piece in the center console can be removed separately from the leather piece under it? (the piece that goes around the cupholder, e-brake, and shifter bag in the picture)

I'm asking because I would like to drill a hole for my alarm's light in the center tomorrow (the alarm job cannot wait), but I need to exchange the interior with someone in a few weeks. I want to make sure that plastic piece can be exchanged separately from the leather piece.

Thanks.

the arm rest, front section, and cupholder insides are separate parts.

is that what you are asking?

I'd suggest using a 1" dry wall joint knife with some electric tape on the edge to pop out the center console. Be sure to place the joint knife at the location of the clips.

It may be a bit overkill. However, it's better to be safe than regret a broken clip.

You can remove it by hand. No tools needed.

Is that a 2006 center console in the picture? My alarm installer put the LED where the defroster switch (which isn't present on my '05) is in that pic.

I was told by Honda Japan that they messed up the production of the S2000. Earlier production 2005 models did not have that defroster switch sitting in the middle of the console, as was mounted behind the steering wheel. They later found out that the strong electric field generated by that defroster switch unnecesarily interferes the computation in the ECU, thus reducing the power output of the engine by 3 to 5% on average. So they moved the switch to the center console, so if your VIN is above 5323, then you are golden, and if your VIN is under that, then you are screwed ... You should consider relocating the button as soon as possible to back that 6 to 10whp.

Just kidding. Yes, that is a console from a 2006 (I just stole it from Honda's official website ... which only has 06 pictures)
