A friend of mine brought back a HK tuning magazine that has our S2K on the cover and tons of available upgrades specifically for the car -- you won't believe all the good stuffs we are missing.

One thing that really caught my attention was the Apex v-tec controller, which wileecoyote also mentioned in another thread.

It's description translates to something like: extend the limiter to 9300 and lower the vtec engagement rpm from 5850 to 5000.

Do you guys know what are the pro's and con's to lowering the v-tec engagement point?
Sure it will engage sooner, but are there any drawbacks?
What are the hard numbers in gains?

I know u guys post upgrade stuffs extensively, so if this has already been covered I apologize.

Does the mixture adjustment only consider the RPM range you are in when the +/- adjustment is made? That is, are low load (cruise or lift), medium load, high load, ALL richened or leaned?

<<It had two settings for low throttle position and another setting for big throttle. Two settings are interpolated and you can specified how many percent opening is a low throttle and how many % is a high throttle. >>

Okay, thanks. That still sounds fairly coarse to me though.

Another issue with lowering the VTEC engagement point is that timing is also changed and it can't be changed.

Try to get on to apex web site or get the telephone no of apex usa to get a wiring diagram as the manual I got had no wiring diagram for the new S-2000.
My tuner got a diagram from fax but I can't get hold of it.
The address of apex USA is 17091 Daimler St.
Irvine CA92614
You can use the address to call pacific bell to get their tel. no.
