Reading this quote from the article
"Height-adjustable springs use a threaded collar at each corner to make ride height and corner weight adjustments. Comptech retained the S2000's stock shocks claiming there wasn't an alternative, which produced livable ride quality and performance. Surprisingly, the car didn't feel underdamped, although we "
Arent' there several diff. co's out there who make aftermarket shocks for the s2k? Mugen is one of them.

Yeah, but Comptech isn't going to plug Mugen, they're promoting their own product line which currently doesn't include shocks.
I've had my car lowered first with Neuspeed and now with Mugen coilovers - Night & Day - Unbelievable the difference proper damping makes.

This is great stuff, I think, and really points out why people mod their cars. Looking at the numbers, the stock S beat the pants off both modded cars in the slalom, pointing out Honda's design goals of making a well-balanced overall sports car; or, in other words, a great bundle of compromises. But not everyone would make the same choices if they had their 'druthers. Some want to make it go really fast in a straight line, and add the blower. Some want wheels and tires that look more aggressive, even if straightline and/or cornering speeds suffer.
It's a shame that individual mods must be so expensive (due to the lack of economies of scale). I would love to see Honda team with Mugen for factory-sponsored (and thus cheaper and WARRANTED) tuning options, much as Merc and BMW have with AMG and M. In the meantime, though, we can thank Honda for giving us such a great starting point from which to create our ideal roadster.

Air intake has the best results and of course header teams up with exhaust for some "okay" numbers...

Their baseline dyno run seemed accurate enough : 198.9hp peak power and 133.4 peak torque.
It's also interesting that they dyno'd with the filter cover off and showed a 2.7 hp gain. I thought some members of this board had tried that and actually lost power. My memory could be going bad on me though...
