Default Attempted break-in - lock mechanism damaged

My car was a victim of an attempted break-in over the weekend and my driver's side door lock mechanism has been destroyed. Does anyone know what all is involved in replacing the mechanism and roughly how much it will cost?

Is it only the lock mech. that was destroyed? usually they end up damaging the door panel when they try to jimmy/pry/screw the lock open.

Hilarious how they destroy the lock...on a convertible.

Yep, just the lock mechanism. I have no idea why they didn't just slash the top!

^Lucky for you though. Still sucks..

Lemme check majestic honda for parts prices (most likely the dealer will quote you higher though)

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/j...gry5=DOOR+LOCKS

looks like part # 40.

Says 60, but MSRP is 90. Dealer would prolly quote you ~100, I'm not sure how they'll go about matching that lock to the key so you dont have two sets of keys, however..

Maybe someone with better knowledge can chime in.

Thanks for the info. I talked to a local dealership and it looks like I'd have to hire an independent locksmith to rekey the new cylinder.

damn same thing happened to my roommate on Tuesday. They broke in, and tried to hot-wire his truck. They failed and left a broken door lock mechanism and a broken ignition.
