Default Audio feedback...Lucid speakers + stock HU

I don't want to get into the hassle of swapping out my factory head unit, but definetly need some better sound.

I was thinking of swapping out the door speakers and tweeters for the high end ones from lucids site. (w/ crossover and all)
Then adding the rear speaker panels which hold 5.25 speakers I beleive. All running off my factory deck.

Just curious if anyone currently has or has had experience with the set up to give me an idea of how it performs. If it's noticably better than stock then I will pursue it, but if it's not worth it, then well it's not worth it...

I've read a lot of good info on the S pods but not too many reviews of the Lucid rear panels. The S Pods sound good, but I don't like how they fill in the top of the headrest thingy. I like the open look of them.

Thanks!

If you go that route, get an amplifier or it won't be worth the expenditure.

BTW: Lucid is awesome, and quick

See I didn't really want to get into the amp either. Not because of the $, but simply because I don't like running all the wires and hiding an amp. I guess it fits under my seat but still.

I just figured if I upgraded the OEM speakers and added the rears with that untapped power from the factory HU it would be better...?

I swore I read a post earlier today with this same setup and an amp and he said it sucked. I searched for it I believe...

That's gonna be a toughy for a 4 channel. Most people put the amp somewhere in the trunk (that's where mine is). My setup is like this:

HU - 50W x 4
Tweeters mounted in front of the window buttons - facing me
upgraded door speakers
Subby with Amp built into where the spare tire kit used to be

For you, I would think the easiest thing would be to change the HU and get the Lucid adapter (getting that installed tomorrow ). You can get more functions out of your dash that way, and you pick up the extra power for the front - without that chunky amp.

This is debateable: I found FM radio reception much better with an aftermarket HU - I have Pioneer with SuperTuner. Clarity may not be noticeably better, but the Pioneer deck has a much easier time finding radio stations.

I think you will be disappointed if you don't run an amp with the stock deck and rear speakers.
