Removing the air guide results in slightly less flow through the radiator so your cooling system will work a little harder and your engine could possibly run a bit hotter.

I will be supplying a template to help purchasers modify their existing guide to accommodate the Aus Intake Extension.

In the future I will may produce a replacement air shield designed specifically for the Aus Intake Extension.

Stormbringer - with regard to the divider, I removed mine and installed an aftermarket airfilter when I first got the car under the assum, ption that it would expose the filter to more air. Personally I don't recommend it.

I guess if the intention is to install a monster air filter then it makes sense, but one of the reasons I did this extension was to maintain all of the safety and tuning features of the stock set up.

These days I have the K&N E2435 (for S2000) filter and intend to repair or replace the airbox divider at some stage.

One of the benefits of this Intake Extension is that you don't lose any of the safety features of the stock airbox. Any water or debris entering the intake goes into the first compartment. If you check your first compartment you will probably find some grit and bits of leaves from the standard intake. There is a drainage hole so any water will drain away. The divider wall stops these contaminants from getting to the second compartment and the filter stops the smallest particles.
I believe the advantage of the Mugen scoop tucked behind the bumper is that in that position, the Mugen air filter is less likely to be sandblasted, but probably gets less air pressure into the filter box, compared to Spoon/Aus. I get much debris as AusS2000 describes in the first compartment of the airbox with the Spoon scoop, and have run in rain with no problem or worry of the filter becoming excessively wet.

Having the Mugen hood, I was able to enlarge the pinch area of the Spoon scoop.

With the Spoon/Aus scoop placed where it is, and with a JR filter, I believe this setup is very good.

J's racing setup seems excellent, but I would be concerned with the filter being constantly peppered with sand and other type of deposits, and potentially having a problem with rain wetting the filter to a certain extent.

Good job, AusS2000!

dgl1, exactly what Aus said here is true in my own experience with the Spoon Duct.

Dyno confirms likely no measureable loss due to duct with enlaged pinch point (229+ at the axle at Ultimate Lurker's). Whether my duct modification makes any difference, I don't know. UL told me extension would decrease power a little in dyno sessions but increase them on the road due to air pressure at the intake.

I will stay with this setup with no desire for a Mugen or AEM at this time.
