Auto down fuction quit working on driver window today

There must be a reason why Honda designed the top's mechanism the way it is. While I'm not 100% sure I can imagine that if the window is up there will be more wear on the rubber seals of the top.
PS: My auto-down is still working fine since I tired that voodoo.
