Wow. Can't say I'm all with you. Sure, a lot of it is bizarre. And it looks like not only show cars, but production cars are trying to be unique rather than just attractive. The same happens in art, music, fashion, etc. BUT...

I really like the Chevy SS. Gotta see it live, the photos make it look a bit too long. But otherwise, it is amazing.

I also like the Caddy 16. A lot more than the rather severe "art & design" concepts (and CTS) that they've been showing.

I also like the Pontiac G6. This is supposed to be the next Grand Am. About a 200% improvement, I'd say.

I like the Mustang GT concept, the RX8 (I think...),

But I do think the WRX Sti and Evo are just screaming "boy racer" (sorry if that offends some of you). I like the performance, wouldn't buy the look.

But not as much as those strange boxes that come from, err, Japan (BBx). The Element has grown on me a bit. These have been popular in Japan for a few years, and frankly (and deliberately) are the antithesis of graceful.

And trucks? They're all trying to out macho, out ugly each other. Never been a truck guy.

Give me a simple, clean, elegant design like the Miata anyday. Don't think anyone has surpassed the Jag XKR in years.

Ohioracer and Rick hit the nail on the head. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who feel's this way.

The Mustang is truly unique and a perfect combination of current and retro styling. I can't wait to see it in person.

I agree, there are some cars that look cool. The '05 Mustang and the Aston. My comments were more geared toward the refrigerator box designs of the others.

We all know that most concepts will not even make it farther than the car shows. The reason, I beleive, the auto industry puts out designs like that it to get publicity and feedback. You are going to see those ugly cars in all the magazines. The name "FORD" and the likes will be right next to those designs. Just like the fashion industry advertises those ugly suits and dresses, in all the magazines, that no one will buy, but they do it to get more name recognition. That intern might make you buy an "Armani" watch instead of a "Fossil" one.

Just my opinion..
