I am satisfied with Travelers. They replaced my exhaust when the Cat was stolen. They replaced the top windshield and hood on my Wifely Unit's F250. They replaced the roof on our house twice within two years. They replaced my S2000 when it got smushed by a fleeing burglar. The cat and S2000 took some discussion to get a fair settlement.

Travelers paid $13,300 for a 2001 with 111,000 miles on it. Gruesome details and pics are on page 33 of the accident thread. Scroll down to the second yellow S2000.

You realize how stupid this is right?

He is complaining about having to add $500 to the repair bill. An lawyer worth their salt will be $400/hour +

Thanks for recommending Travelers.
Geico CA regional manager and CA regional assistant president told me the three options and told me these options are final. So no discussions with me at all.

Not just geico, but any insurance provider. What your policy does and does not cover is disclosed in writing in that material provided at the time you sign up.

I have had Geico coverage with a higher deductible and had my top slashed twice. The first time it happened it prompted me to buy a hardtop as winter was approaching in NYC. I forgot how much geico paid but I used what they paid towards the hardtop. The second time around my sewed/patched soft top got cut into again. Albeit the two scumbags were caught and I scored a new OEM soft top and other things, I never had a problem with geico. My experience has always been, meeting with the geico adjuster in person and talking them into "helping me out".
Given the options you've listed and it sounds like you have the S as a commuter car, I'd suggest you take the $1,300 check and put it towards a used OEM hardtop. On your free time, sew it back up and tape it on the inside and outside with durable tape used for fixing boats. If the ghetto look is not your cup of tea, then at least the hardtop provides time for you to save for a new soft top. Being that the car has been vandalized, I would think there's a good chance the would be thieves might pay you another visit.
So get a hardtop and tell Geico to go f themselves and change insurance provider.

"15 minutes can save you...."

I have been calling them for years for quotes and it is never competitive with my other offers. Your record must have to be really clean.

I'll chime in with my experience with Progressive. I have a 2007 LBP with 59k on the clock.

A couple months ago, I basically slid into a curb during a heavy rain and damaged my S. I was by myself with no other cars around. With that said, the rep helped me get a tow home, and let me choose which shop I wanted to go to "when I was ready."

About a week later, I took it to my buddy's shop about 30 min away, and the adjuster came and priced the car the next day. After that, I got my estimate from her, and she wanted to start repairs immediately. The shop was too busy so it had to sit another day.

Turns out the set of tires I had on were discontinued, and it'd be a long wait to get replacements in, but I was given the option to have a set of continentals fitted instead. They wanted me to pay for the fourth tire, since it wasn't damaged. I said no, I didn't want to pay for the fourth tire. They said ok, and covered the cost.

After that, everything that was damaged was replaced quickly with Honda OEM. No mess. No fuss. No negotiations. I spoke with my adjuster three times during that, the first was to let me know she was looking at the car on x day, the second was to let me know she had an estimate ready, and the third was to ask how satisfied I was with my repairs.

I've got my S back now and you can't even tell it was ever in an accident. So I strongly suggest you guys check out Progressive. Their rates are the cheapest for me, and I had a great experience with them.

I'm sorry to see this happen to you. Good luck.

I have Progressive at the moment. Been a customer for 6 years. Started getting quotes from other companies shortly after my S2000 purchase. GEICO came in cheaper than progressive by a decent amount. Haven't done anything yet but after reading this, I think I'll stick with Progressive.

Good luck with everything.

Just so everyone knows, All Auto insurance providers use LKQ(Like Kind and Quality/QRP(Quality repair parts) on vehicles. That pretty much means that they are used parts from the same year or newer, make and model of your vehicle. Please understand that LKQ/QRP are NOT aftermarket parts.

-Betterment varies by Insurance companies. My former employer applied betterment on parts as to where my current employer only applies betterment to claimants(3rd parties). Betterment is usually charged on wear and tear items that were damaged as a result of an incident (Tires, soft Tops, etc). Best thing to do is read the Policy booklet to understand their take on it.

-You always have the option to use the LKQ/QRP parts or you can opt to pay the difference for the OEM or Aftermarket parts.

-Dealer's Labor rates will always be higher than a normal body shop's labor rates.

I'm a litte more laxed with parts on my vehicles, but would a Robbins Top be much worse than the OEM Top?

Geico shunned me for having a modified car lol so I dropped them. Heres what I would do though.. Threaten to report them to the insurance commission. They are scared of dealing with them and usually more times than none you will end up getting what you want in the end. Just my 02.

Customer is always right, fawk Geico!
