Bad Gas Mileage

if you're getting about 20-22mpg combined then that sounds normal. there's always a few people that say they get 42 mpg with 99% city driving in every forum. honestly i don't believe any of it but i guess it also depends where you live as well. "city driving" in nyc is probably wayyyy different than "city driving" in kansas.
I drive 37k a year in my S, for the last couple years...and for the next few foreseeable years. Anyways, I drive about 150 miles A DAY for work, mostly hwy around 80mph, and I average 26mpg, sometimes 24-25 if I get on it more, sometimes 28+mpg. Im happy with it. Premium only gas.

Another thing you should think about, since fuel prices are on the rise again, more and more people will tend to buy more of the lower octane gases than the required 91+ octane fuels to save money.
When this happens the higher octane fuels will sit longer in the tanks and will start to absorb water which will end with you getting a tank full of bad gas and lower MPG. Ethanol fuel has a shelf life of about three weeks before it starts to go bad.

I actually run 89 octane in my S and I get around 260-290 miles per tank. I was running the local 93 oactane from Sunoco and my MPT dropped to around the 240 miles.
Most gas station only have tanks in the ground for 87 and 91-93 octane and use fuel from both to get their middle 89 octane fuels.

With VERY few 91 octane (Sunoco) stations around, we frequently alternate between 89 and 93 in our cars, hoping for a mix that's close. I keep logbooks in the car (have since 1975, I have no life
) but have not tried to detrmine which mixes result in best MPG's -- and probably won't bother.
I get around 26-27 in the S2K. and 29 in the Fit. I used to get 33 in the Fit but I tend to drive aggressive in the Fit. It handles great but lacks power. I did get something like 16 at the track. Perhaps it's your driving style.
