bad mpg in the s2k?
#23
my comment on switching to synthetic getting me on average 28mpg could have very well been just from changing the oil. i bought the car in january im assuming with regular oil. Drove it for until 30k miles (car had a sticker saying next oil change was at 30K)....at the time i was getting on average 26mpg.
then i switched to synt... it could have very well just been the oil change itself
that made my mpg go up slightly.

no, it won't. the S2k will pull.
z06 makes ~275lb-ft at 2000rpm through .5 gear and 3.4 axle... and that torque figure actually rises as the revs go up
unless the S has swapped 4.57 or 4.77 i dont think itll happen
/my opinion

If the z06 was putting out 505 hp or 400 hp at crusing speed, then we would get better mpg no problem, but it doesn't. I don't understand why people think just because an engine makes alot of power it should necessarily have poor gas mileage. An engine will only produce as much power as you tell it to, and I would imagine that at some reasonable highway speed the amount of power required to keep an s2000 and a z06 going is not that much different.
