my comment on switching to synthetic getting me on average 28mpg could have very well been just from changing the oil. i bought the car in january im assuming with regular oil. Drove it for until 30k miles (car had a sticker saying next oil change was at 30K)....at the time i was getting on average 26mpg.

then i switched to synt... it could have very well just been the oil change itself
that made my mpg go up slightly.

I've had mine for over 4 years now and have consistently averaged between 25- 28 mpg. I now have over 64k miles.

no, it won't. the S2k will pull.
we pretty much make 125lb-ft until 6000rpm ... pushing through ~.8 gear and 4.1 axle
z06 makes ~275lb-ft at 2000rpm through .5 gear and 3.4 axle... and that torque figure actually rises as the revs go up

unless the S has swapped 4.57 or 4.77 i dont think itll happen

/my opinion

If the z06 was putting out 505 hp or 400 hp at crusing speed, then we would get better mpg no problem, but it doesn't. I don't understand why people think just because an engine makes alot of power it should necessarily have poor gas mileage. An engine will only produce as much power as you tell it to, and I would imagine that at some reasonable highway speed the amount of power required to keep an s2000 and a z06 going is not that much different.

Actually, if you compare just the engines, the Z06 gets terrible gas mileage compared to the S2k. you should re-read the thread, and see that the reason the Z06 has such skewed EPA ratings is because of their skip shift feature and their lame tall ass 6th gear.
