I would bet that the only way for CarFax to get data would be from insurance claims on the particular vehicle. I had a small fender-bender between my nex Focus and the house but will pay 100% out-of-pocket to get it fixed... which will probably never show up on any accident/damage tracking service.

Unless the body shop tells CarFax... I'm not going to tell CarFax
