Default Beeping "Alarm" Coming from Instrument Cluster

Has anyone encountered a consistent, rather high-pitched, beeping noise/alarm coming from their instrument cluster?

This morning, I was driving along... and all of a sudden, this beeping starts coming from the instrument cluster (or maybe inside the dash somewhere).

I know my car REALLY well and know of all the components in the dash (I had removed my dash a few times several years ago). No "check-engine-lights" or other warning/diagnostic lights appeared... I had a full tank of gas... No stereo on... I have no Honda alarm... Stock ECU... Stock engine (I didn't a year ago)... I did recently have the clutch replaced under warranty for the vibration/rattle issue about 3 months ago.

Anyone experience this? It was almost like when you have reached the destination on a trip-computer and it starts to beep telling you that you have reached 0.00 miles... but louder. I know we have count-up trip A and count-up trip B counters, but no count-down trip counters.

Thank you all!

NO ONE has ever heard of this?! I contacted my dealer/service department and they haven't either... They said that if it does it again to stop in and they will hook up an OBDCII-monitor right on the spot.

You all know (those of you who have followed my posts over the last few years) that I really know my car and have just about done it all <to my car>... so you know that I am not imagining this

Shane, nice to hear from you again. Sadly, I've read most of the posts on this board and I can't ever remember anyone else having this problem.

The only thing that beeps from my dash is when the wiper is set at intermittent. No other cars I know would beep when wiper is set at intermittent. Weird!!!

Hi Dan! It's great to hear from you too! Congratulations on the wedding!

I have stayed away far too long from S2Ki... too much studying for my CCIE!

As for the noise: After taking it to Honda Service tonight and visiting my favorite service tech, I found out just how much of a dumba$$ I can be... I had to go around and apologize to all the fantastic Honda technicians who helped me out this evening and wasted their time with me.

I am almost ashamed to admit what it was...

...maybe I won't. It's too embarrassing.

...okay, here was the problem: I have a Smarttire pressure-monitoring system (with the receiver mounted in my visor)... and only have the pressure sensors in my summer 18" wheels. I just put on my snow tires WITHOUT the Smarttire sensors in them... and the receiver was having a fit "beeping" because it wasn't receiving any signals. Since the receiver is mounted in the visor, it sounds like it's coming from the dash as it reflects off the windshield. I'm a dumba$$.

I should delete this thread/topic, but maybe my stupidity could somehow help others

Thank you all for reading this nonsense!

Shane, sorry but that is probably the funniest thing I have read on this board in a long, long, long time. Happy Holidays and look me up sometime.

Shaner, nice to see you!
I did something just as stupid last week. I had sent a laptop back to IBM for them to replace a keyboard that got coffeed out. Then the substitute laptop got a virus. I kept trying to boot to DOS (using a Win98SE startup disk) but it wouldn't. It kept booting from the hard drive.

Of course I had put the floppy in a diskdrive connected to an empty port replicator. A day or two later I figured out you have to put the floppy in the disk drive of the computer you're actually using, not in the diskdrive of the computer you've just mailed back to easyserv!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boy, did my staff like that one. They think I work magic with computers (and babies) and they could really laugh at that goof!
