Guess cold is the #1 enemy of the S02. And on a shorter track it kills the other cars. It was a good demonstration how the driver, then track layout, and then car were the most important factors. Neat stuff!

Also, there is another CD with a Super Battle between S2000, ITR, Silvia, Legacy, Boxster S, MR-S (and is this the one with the Lotus Super 7?). The ITR wins, but only because the damn driver won't let the S2000 and Boxster pass. Those two are just sitting on the ITR's tail through the whole race looking for a chance. It's still an excellent battle between the S2000 and the Boxster and the S2000 wins.
The key lesson to take from these tapes is that the oversteer problem is vastly exaggerated. There is some mention of oversteer, but only to say that it's fun oversteer to play with. Also, the S2000 stomps the competition in slalom on two different wet courses. There goes the theory that the s-02's are especially dangerous in the rain.

FYI, the S2000 driver you're referring to is Takuya Kurosawa.
I guess you haven't watched the Aug issue yet. Go watch it and see if you still think he is a bad driver.
I watched this CD last night. I think the S2000 lost the first race because the driver didn't know how to drive it. He kept dropping below 6000rpms and he was very timid about passing. If you pay attention to the conversation after the race, the other drivers are pretty much accusing him of driving badly. Then they spend the rest of the CD proving that he was wrong by testing the S2000 on all sorts of other tracks. Awesome! They conclude that the car (which only has a few hundred miles on it) is not properly broken in and will be faster.
