You can more easily tune the 06+ because their ECU is fully reprogrammable. This means you can either send your ECU to Hondata and they can reflash it with a more aggressive tune (on a mostly stock car you mainly get a lowered 5600 rpm vtec engagement point with a raised 8500 redline and this makes it much easier to stay in vtec and more fun to drive around town) or you can purchase a Flashpro and reflash it yourself all you want. You also gain the ability to tune the car including both fuel and timing with the Flashpro. Basically it's a no-brainer purchase if you own an 06+ and plan on modifying it.

Also, most people can't tell a difference (or very very little) between the cable and drive-by wire on the S2000.

Can you explain the driving difference between the two?
I dunno, it just felt slightly more direct with a cable throttle instead of DBW... DBW cars you can tune... so DBW probably better for most people. It's just my preference to have a traditional throttle. No VSC on pre-2005 cars, either.
I appreciate the input. What do you mean about being able to tune dbw more? I've never had a car with vsc, but I've also never had a car that fast. How do you like living without it?

He means VSA...and imho it's not really intrusive. I've had it kick on in 2nd gear while coming out of several corners on the dragon...other than that it doesn't kick in.

i bought a relatively low mileage (45,000) '05 because i wanted an AP2 for the styling updates but i also wanted the first gen seats. don't know why, but to me the helmet cutout on the 99-05 seats are one of the most attractive styling features of the whole car. VSA and DBW are really irrelevant to me, but as i don't have them on my car I'll just go ahead and say that the car is better without them...

Cool. I'm just trying to find reasons to not pay the premium it seems that 06+ hold.

I mean, there's about a 3000+ jump from 05 to 06+. There's gotta be good reasons other than the all black interior on the gpw.

Just did a kbb.com estimate on a '06 vs '05 @ 40,000 miles in excellent condition:

'06: $21,805
'05: 20,540

$1265 diff...

this is pretty simple: the newest year available. in this case, 2009. for obvious reasons. case closed.

best years are ALL!

they are all good in their own ways, but personally...i wouldnt want an 00-01, unless certain mods were done and i prefer the 02-03 over the 04-05, because of 9k redline. 06+ is nice because of tuning capabilities

We all know kbb doesn't adjust for real market value, especially by region. I never sell, nor buy cars based on kbb.
