I've gone through a few cars in this order.. 95 olds mobile, 03 350z track stock, 04 rsx type s comptech supercharged, 04 evo VIII on tein coilovers, 02 is300 single turbo, 04 g35 6mt greddy tt, 99 solara trd supercharged, 06 g35 coupe fully built motor/tune.. and now 04 s2000 stock stock stock haha..

I love this car, it's like a go-kart on wheels.. definitely the best feeling gearbox out of all the cars I have owned.. I hope it runs as well as the way I treat it for years to come.

Although I bought an 01, there are things I'd like to have from the ap2 models.

My love for the early OG ap1:
  • 6k-9k vtec. May not be head and shoulders faster than an f22, but the experience is a whole different beast.
  • larger font end-to-end cluster without the white line
  • high spring rates similar to CR
  • slightly lighter weight
  • nostalgic look
  • helmet cutout seats
  • overall discipline they demand from the driver
  • lighter flywheel which i swapped for an even lighter one (8 lbs)

My love for what I'd want from the ap2:
  • Center armrest and console swap
  • Transmission (which I've done and loooove)
  • Headlights
  • rear suspension geometry
  • GLASS window. lol
  • Somewhat partial to the steering wheel, but I like the old one fine
  • Wider stock rims for better tire options
  • Front bumper and oem lip > ap1 with oem lip
  • Some of the colors offered like blue for 07+
  • Oil banjo bolts
  • Reinforced diff for peace of mind
  • CR steering rack... yes.

The only things I don't really care for on the early ap1 is the plastic rear window and the clutch buzz. I remedied the clutch buzz with the new revised oem disk and will hopefully be able to get an oem style hardtop once they start producing them soon. The ap1 just feels like a more challenging car to drive fast because it's harder to keep control at the limits. I'm not trying to lower lap times, but I like the focus required and no VSA keeps me civil or level headed without wanting to do stupid things.

FWIW- I bought my 01 bone stock in very good condition almost 3 years ago for $10k with 72k miles. It has exactly 100k on it right now.

My dad had an 02. Loved it, I think I preferred the lack of CDV the most though lol. they are awesome cars, but ap2 > ap1.

I think the new bumpers, headlights, taillights, and f22 are all an improvement over the ap1. if the f20 is so great, why did Japan also get the f22? rest of the world is jelly.
