Best Year S2K - Everything Considered
Hi All,
So I've pretty much decided I'm going to purchase an S2K, however I am unsure of the year I am going to purchase and I have looked at the specs on paper and on paper it says: get an AP2.
Here are the facts in this area....
2006 - newer $21,000 or more. Typically have 40-60k miles or less.
2005 - older around $18,000, some as low as $12,000 or $11,000. Typically have $50,000 miles or more.
Now I know that isn't the AP1/AP2 break off, however that just seems to be the cost trend in my area, and the cost seems to really change at the 05/06, which I beleive was the engine stroke and rpm change as well as the speakers, electronic stability control and a few other things.
Are those upgrades really worth, roughly an extra $4,000 or are they really upgrades?
I just want one that is fun and crazy to drive, Can the stability control be turned off? When I test drove a 2002 and test drove a 2006, the 2006 seemed more tamed, however I was in an area where test driving it owuld not allow me to drive it nearly as wild as in the 2002 model; becaus I drove the 06 in a city and the 02 in the country.
Lets hear some opinions.
Thanks,
~Dave

Gino N,
Mine is an older model and I don't have VSA/Traction control, but I've seen it disabled on ones that do. A way to do it was, apparently, found by accident. Appears there is a bug that Honda did not catch. There are a couple videos on how to do it. The videos I saw each had 2 guys in the car filming and giving directions. It does involve shutting the car off at, at speed, in neutral and restarting, clutch in, and slip into gear. I didn't pay a whole of attention at that point because mine doesn't have it. Anyway, I don't remember the step/selection/function after you shut down car. I'm sure if you poke around on video searches you'll find at least 1 video that demonstrates this. Also, I'm fairly sure someone else on the form will see your question and get back to you. I may be wrong on the year, but pretty sure one was a 2006. I don't have a clue on the other one.
Gino N,
Gino N,
Just wasted a cup of coffee this morning reading this as it showed up in "new posts!"
Really wish this forum would close these old threads like many others do One forum I participate in will display a warning like "This thread was last active a year ago. Do you really want to post this?".

PS: I have an '06. Wish it had the seats of the '05, tire pressure monitor of the '07 and wheels of the '08.
