Just wanted to stir the pot, eh? :-)

I'm not going mod crazy on my S - I personally love the way it looks/works for the most part. But I do enjoy the look/feel/balance of the car with the kg/mm springs - I like the way the car works with the 17x8 17x9 ASA's

I didn't buy the car with resale value in mind. I bought it because it blew me away with the "go-kart" like responsiveness and the vtec rush. I want to enjoy this thing - not preserve it in concours condition. If someone takes a mirror on a stick and looks under my car and sees an x-brace and has a seizure, well... too bad! :-)

The mods I've chosen to go with are small attempts to either personalize my ride or make it a bit better. Like it or not - Honda had to tune this car to fit a broad spectrum of owners. I'm simply trying to sharpen the focus to make the car appeal more to ME.

To each his own...

Do you really need to start this war?

Some mod, some don't. Please accept it and move on. Most of the mods I see make me laugh. I've even been suckered into a few myself.

But what's the point? You're never gonna save the world from all the stupid people who do stupid things. Especially to their cars.

I don't see the reason to bring up this time old flame bait.

Some can't control their need to buy mods, others can't control their need to complain about it.

Bieg's Law;

The resale value of an automobile decreases in proportion to the cost of returning it to stock condition.

Supporting evidence of same;

In the January 2003 edition of Road & Track there is a featured article called "Used Car Classic".

Excellent article Bieg. I whole heartedly agree about the resale value aspect.

Bieg - It's interesting that you bring this up in this way considering that, as Prolene pointed out, the article seems to be targeting people who want to buy a car with the intent to modify it. You have always taken the purist point of view with our car and discouraged any mods that can't be removed easily. It seems like this article is in direct contradiction to what your philosophies are.

Phuck, here we go again.

It's just not true. Look at how much 911 Porsches go for that have 3.8l engine conversions rather than the stock 3.6. It's a LOT more.

My Corrado sold for a LOT of money earlier this year. Over double the book value on the car, and yes it was well modified.

When I swap in the 4.44:1 gears instead of the overly tall stock gears, do you really think they will affect my resale value in any way? If I don't even tell the prospective buyer about them, he will never know the difference, other than the fact that his car would be noticeably faster in every situation than a stock (overgeared) S2000.

And finally, if you are so worried about resale value, perhaps you should NOT be driving an S2000 in the first place. These cars will start seeing some significant appreciation in the next couple of years, anyways.

The saying goes that those concerned with resale value can't afford the car in the first place.

Geez Bieg, I have nothing against you personally, but why do you have this constant "bee in your bonnet" that needs to be let out on a regular basis? Why can't you be happy with yourself and what you do or don't do to your own car and NOT be so irritated by what other people do with/to/for their own cars? Must you be the "crusader" who's going to save me, or anyone else for that matter, from losing an extra few thousand bucks when we sell? Have you not considered that for some people, the extra money we spend and the money we'll eventually lose might be considered WORTH it to us in terms of fun and enjoyment? Never have I seen in any of your rants, any tabulations that include the dollar worth and value of "fun and enjoyment". If you're going to preach to us the merit and value of NOT modding, why do you always leave out this one critical variable in your equation? Remember, there is always two sides to any equation. You have never "balanced" out the mod side of your equation. Clearly, your "blinkers" are on too tight.

Here we go again...

Thanks for trying to save us from the "dark side" but it really isn't neccessary. Inherently, cars are very bad investments. So if you purchased your S2000 with a dream of reselling it one day in hopes of making a small fortune, I hate to burst your bubble but sorry no can do.

Everyone brought their S2000 for different reasons... Mod it, don't mod it but enjoy it and have fun.
