"Bieg's Law"

I think what Bieg posted is correct in general, although some have pointed out instances where modifications do increase the resale value.
Where this discussion has degenerated into flames before is when people have felt, worngly or rightly, that they were being told what to do or not do. Bieg has carefully not said that, at least this time. He's just said that eventual resale value is decreased by mods. As long as each person is left to decide if resale value is important to them, then he's doing everyone a service in making them aware of it.

Well, Bieg brings up some good points, but the anti-tuning drivel is rediculous, considering Bieg's own car is mildly modified.
But you should buy the fastest car you can afford, and can afford to maintain.
You should take several driving schools to learn more, plus they are a total blast.
And if you are so inclined, you should take the time to learn how to work on your own car.
And if you are looking for resale value, you should look to only "bolt-on" mods that are easily reversed when you go to sell. My car will be pretty close to bone-stock when I go to trade it in on something cooler and faster (and yes there will always be something better).
But I think what he terms "mods" are really body kits. They're about the only thing that you can't reverse on this car. Superchargers and turbos come off without a trace, suspensions can be swapped quickly, even brakes are easy to swap back to stock. Not to mention wheels and tires.
And if the car is back to stock, it's buyer beware. A stock S2000 that's been run hard at the track would be in worse shape than a supercharged, lowered, big wheeled show queen.
It's always a crap shoot buying a used car. With such low financing available nowadays, why would you want to?

Tedster is right, my bad.
Due to history I guess I tend to assume Bieg is talking down to everyone from his "modless high horse".
My main problem here is beig has made his position clear many times, and everytime he posts threads like this it serves mainly to piss off a lot of folks. He knows this and continues to do this.
Tell me your religion once, my memory works fine. Don't keep knocking on my door trying to sell it to me.

Bieg has obviously never been on a s2ki meet or drive....then you would understand the joy and excitement of modifying your car. Have you ever been to a car show? A race? Anything? Have you seen your dream car there (mine is the s2k
) and seen it modified, fast as hell, or a cool looking body kit, or that badass system. Some people enjoy that and there is a market out there for people who WOULD buy the car for MORE than it was purchased for. And to say to keep the car stock is your opinion and I respect that. But to say to modify the car and purchase a manual, go to a racing school...that to some people IS A WASTE OF MONEY. Just as others have said, to each his own...but to come in here and tell everyone to keep it stock and do other things than what human nature permits is ludicrous. Just my .02. Bieg, you can flame me all you want and this forum can grow to 200 replies, but I suggest this stop now before it gets ugly.
