this Might fit this post properly

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Im not an attorney

But doesnt this give you the right to do what you want???

Just like it gives us to do what we want???

If your allowed to keep car stock, why cant us that want to make it different, or better, or worse for that matter, do it with out prejudice

I find it truly funny, that no one seems to Infringe on your 1st Amendment right for you keeping YOUR car stock...its a great car, but ITS NOT PERFECT,
therefore for those of us that feel it can be better, why must you ALWAYS find a reason to say something negitive WHEN WE EXERCISE OUR 1ST AMENDMENT RIGHT???
Its just a question

Again?!

Fine, we get it, you like to keep your car stock and think everyone else should do the same for one reason or another. Sure, you've got the right to post your opinion, but it's just an annoyance now....how many posts DO we need saying the exact same sentiment form the same person? And how many times do people need to post saying thanks for your opinion, but we don't agree before you get it that some agree and some don't?

I can't say I've ever felt my own world so devoid of interesting things to do that I had to spout my "religion" at every chance I had. How cluttered of a board we would have if everyone started a new thread claiming their opinion was superior. For two years now you've started and re-started threads like this one, and they all say the same thing over and over again...we get it...some don't agree, but WE GET IT, already! Move on!

If you're so concerned with resale value, I'd think you would be GLAD most of us are modding our cars so YOUR resale value would go up in comparison.

It's amusing...I remember so many great things about various poeple on this board that I've never met...their likes, dislikes, what they've done to their cars. But so far, the only thing I've associated with the handle Bieg in two years is "keep it stock" drivel and some comments that got you booted for a while. How about giving me another reason to remember your handle, like why you feel a stock item is better than an aftermarket item for YOUR car and for YOUR driving style...interject it into the tech discussion about that aftermarket part.

But for Pete's sake, enjoy the car like we do, and stop worrying about everyone else is doing it wrong. The lack of stress will make you live longer...

Why is it that every time someone posts a thread they KNOW will cause an uproar their response to any dissenting posts is always "if you don't like it don't read it". I guess the corollary to that would be "if I don't like it I'll say I don't like it." What are you looking for with this thread? A bunch of lemmings willing to follow you off a cliff without their own opinions? If not, then dissenting opinion should be considered and commented upon, not squashed. If you're just trying to post your opinion without wanting feedback just say so and I'll gladly lock the thread. So again, what is it you're expecting in response to this? Should we all just bow down to you and compliment your wisdom or are we allowed to disagree with your comments?

FWIW, I think you guys are being way, way too hard on Bieg.

This forum is supposed to welcome and accept all points of view. Yes, those of us that have been around a while know the history of Bieg's position on modding but there's nothing wrong with him re-expressing his thoughts. I don't think his original post attacked anyone nor was it really inflammatory. IMO, he has every right to post similar threads every day if he wants.

Afterall, this forum is full of folks commenting about the benefits of this mod, or thanking this vendor for this mod, etc. Nothing wrong with that either (hell, I've done it a few times). So why not have a balanced presentation.

You don't have to agree with Bieg. I don't happen to think there's anything wrong with people modding their cars. I do think that a huge majority of the modifications are not to my taste and a waste of money but it isn't being done to my car so I don't care.

My point is this. All perspectives should be welcome here. We don't have to all agree but hell, what fun would that be?

I'm not going to agree or disagree with this, but I'm very curious as to why you believe that these cars will appreciate in the near future.

Haha,

No I meant depreciation. Sorry. Many new models coming out on the market, 4th year production and all that. We are already seeing the 00's selling for under $25k (which still is pretty good on a 3 year old car).

This doesn't work here. S2ki is not a public speaking hall. The owners of the site have a legal right to dictate what is and what is not posted in the message board. So you technically do not have freedom of speech on this site.

Bieg,

I've been gone for about half a year, I come back, and things are still the same. Here is the problem I am having. You want to post you opinion here and point to an article that loosely reflects your standpoint but then you thrash on others with opposing views. You say that this is a forum, a place where people can exchange thoughts and ideas, yet you try to silence others and place your views on them. If I knew any better (which I don't) I'd guess that you were a pastor or some other religious figure. If there is a Righteous, there must be a Wrongus, and that can't be the case with opinions. These aren't facts because there are many instances of contradictions, a few were pointed out in this discussion.

About the article. This is basic human thought put onto paper. Think about it this way: A car is like a chick. If you have to get a "Used" one, you don't want to get one that has been "driven hard" for many miles and been abused many ways by the previous "owner". Crappy mods like Cheesy flame/rice graphics=tongue ring, Nitrous=Head spikes: They detract the John Q. Publics of the world (unless they're into that weird sh!t) and thus lower the resale value. There are people into that though.

To me, modifying cars is like breaking in a girl. If you want a modified car, you want to do the modifying and not have some Joe Schmoes do it before/for you. If you have hook yourself up with a used car that has been modified, you want the one that has not been modified that much (read 9 or less "mods/modders" unless you want the easy car that doesn't mind when you drive it hard and spray a load of nitrous all over her face...errr..nevermind ). Thus, a virgin car or a used car that has been pristine kept and rarely driven with low miles (unless it's a honda ) has better sale value.

If this makes no sense at all, take me to the back alley and shoot me. ,
Phi
