"Bieg's Law"
I don't see any problem with what Bieg is saying here.... I don't care if someone modifies a car for their own reasons - this is a free country. Personally, I feel that a modification to the S2000 is like putting a mustache on the Mona Lisa. Or breaking the guitar Pete Townsend style - it's cool for about two seconds. Still, I am not here to judge others, this is my personal feeling. I like the idea that we are just curators to these cars - this functions on many levels and is an example of higher thinking. IMHO. Bieg's warning is an appropriate post worthy of consideration (if not entirely new).
I fully support Bieg and his right to express his opinion on this board. I can't believe that everybody can't get past the personal attacks and discuss the true topic; the pros/cons of mods. Anyone that mods their car is taking a risk with damage to the vehicle and almost certainly decreasing their resale value. Most S2k owners are enthusiasts and are fanatical about the use and condition of their vehicles. How can some of the same people that would refuse delivery of a new vehicle because it had 30 vs 9 miles on the odometer claim that a future purchaser is going to pay full market price for an S2000 that has been modified by an amateur with parts of questionable quality and engineering.
I also question the assertion that modders aren't affecting anybody but themselves. There are several threads on this board of the type "I installed X mod and it messed up my car, do you think that if I remove X mod and lie, it will be repaired under warranty/insurance". These modders most certainly increase the purchase price and insurance premiums for the rest of us. If you are going to install a mod, you must be willing to pay out of your own pocket the cost of repairing damage caused by that mod.

So when you start a thread titled 'Bieg's Law' (that apostrophe could be taken two ways) it reminds all the old timers of the old Bieg, rakes the coals, opens the wounds. I think that is why you got all the emotional responses to what in it's own right is a perfectly legitimate thread. I'd say that if the thread was posted by someone else (and perhaps with a less righteous title) the response would have been very different.
Just an observation that may answer some of your questions.
"The Wrath of Bieg" Look out, Cedric!!!
O.K. to keep this on topic, how about a farty sounding exhaust and triple-decker wing. Guaranteed to increase the value of your car!
Allright... to keep this really on topic, I'm getting ready to install my x-brace tonight. Since I'll be doing a few autocrosses and maybe a track day or so, I guess it'll be o.k.
