"Bieg's Law"
Ahhh, this old chest nut!
I agree with everything you say in the first post. If you are going to mod your car make sure you start from a stocker (is that correct?).
So does eating, going to the movies, playing golf, just plain living.
I spent much of last weekend installing one-touch auto up/down for my soft top, repainting my V-AFC black, hard wiring my power outlet to the battery (for charging purposes) and a few other tinkery type things. I realise this doesn't make any sense to some, but that was actually what I wanted to do with my time. I 'spent' it the way I wanted to and enjoyed the hell out of it.
For those of us with the tinkering bent, please factor this into your equation some time.
Modding is not a sound financial decision. Nor is playing golf. And if you give up both you will have much more time to spend with your accountant (no offence intended to accountants BTW).

The time and effort and in some cases money it takes to install the mod.

If I knew any better (which I don't) I'd guess that you were a pastor or some other religious figure.

Put it this way, whenever I imagine Bieg (and that's not often) I can't help but think of Hank from 'Me, Myself and Irene'.

I disagree. Sure Bieg's thoughts are only one side of the story and he doesn't seem to acknowledge that there is any other side, but that's what discussions and opinions are all about. And he's far less caustic

I think Bieg's Law is valid and I think Bieg said it in the right way.
If I ever buy my dreamed about NSX, I'll buy it new and keep it stock. In 20 years, it'll have fresh fluids, fuel and wiper blades, but I'll pass on the stereo upgrades, subwoofers, rear speakers, etc. My S2000 is fully returnable to stock (with the purchase of some plastic to fix up where I put in Lucid's speakers) and I'm glad.
When my new oil jet bolts come in, I'll keep the old ones in case the next owner wants an "original" F20C ...

Yeah, it isn't 'worth much' relatively speaking, but my 1991 'Limited Edition' BRG Miata #440 of 4000 has less than 4000 miles, original great looking tires, original battery that still works
, hardtop and totally unmodded. It is worth very much to me, and is irreplaceable, since I don't think I could find such a specimen in the same condition. I like that Miata as it is, as I like my S2000 as I have made it to be.
